Terms & conditions
REVISION G - as of August 11, 2024.
The following Terms & Conditions apply to all agreements made between Littleton Bass School LLC (“LBS”) and its students and the parents/guardians of its students (“the student/parent”). Littleton Bass School is committed to musical excellence and the success of each and every student. This agreement reinforces this commitment to the student, makes clear the expectations of all parties involved, and assures focus on progress for each student who adheres to these requirements. It also provides remediation and problem-solving courses of action for those who don’t.
1. COMMUNICATION
a. All important LBS communications are sent to the student/parent by email. This assures they are in writing and retrievable and can include attached files. If receiving lesson information by email is problematic or unacceptable, it is your responsibility to inform LBS and suggest a reliable alternative.
b. It is the responsibility of the student/parent to inform LBS of any changes to their contact details (email address, phone number) as soon as possible. LBS is not responsible for missed communications, late payments, missed lessons, etc. due to outdated or incorrect contact information.
2. TUITION
a. There is a one-time non-refundable registration fee for new students of $30, to cover supplies and maintenance, payable with the first paid lesson or pre-payment.
b. Tuition payments may either be 1) made a la carte per each lesson as they occur, or 2) pre-paid monthly four-packs based on four (4) lessons per month, or 3) paid as a monthly subscription service.
c. Individual a la carte lessons are $60/hour or $45/45-min or $30/half-hour. Payment is due at the conclusion of each lesson. If not paid within 24 hours of the lesson end, future lessons may be suspended pending payment. If not paid within 15 days of the lesson, a $15 late fee will be added to the balance due.
d. If you pre-pay for 4 lessons, and can complete them in 45 days, you receive a discount. A month of four 30-minute lessons is $110/month. A month of four 45-minute lessons is $165/month. A month of four 60-minute lessons is $225/month. Months may begin on any date and are in effect until the same date in the next month. It is the student’s/parent’s responsibility to schedule and complete their lessons within the required time period. After 45 days, if there are any unused four-pack lessons, you will be required to pay the FULL LESSON RATES for all four lessons. If you prepaid at the four-pack discount, the difference between that and the full lesson rate will be due & payable for that four-pack.
e. Monthly pre-paid tuition must be set up either to auto-pay at each month’s start date, or payment made by Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Google Pay, Cash App, debit/credit card, cash, or check at or before the month’s start date.
f. Group lesson costs vary and are quoted based on group size and lesson type. All other terms and conditions apply.
g. It is the student’s/parent’s responsibility to notify the school of any change to the payment method, account, etc. on file for monthly payments. A late charge of $15 will be added to any monthly tuition payment that fails to go through automatically at the start of the month. Lessons will be suspended until payment issues are resolved. An additional late fee of $25 is added after the second failed payment is recorded for the month.
h. Tuition is non-refundable. See section 4 for the school’s cancellation and rescheduling policy.
i. Payment methods:
a. MONTHLY: ACH/eCheck: Preferred. USBank, Chase, and some other institutions can set up automatic monthly payments by eCheck to Littleton Bass School. eCheck autopay entitles you to a waiver of the $30 registration fee. You are responsible for setting up a payment date that delivers the tuition to LBS on or before your monthly start date.
b. MONTHLY: Credit Card Autopay: Fill out a Recurring Card Payment Sheet and sign and return it. Your credit card will be charged on the chosen date of each month for the upcoming month’s lessons.
c. MONTHLY: The only other accepted payment methods for pre-paid/discounted months are Venmo, Zelle, cash, or check.
d. A LA CARTE: Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Google Pay, or the Cash app are acceptable no-touch payment methods. LBS also accepts cash, checks (payable to Littleton Bass School), or debit/credit cards for individual lesson payments.
3. ATTENDANCE
a. Students are expected to arrive promptly at their scheduled times. Note that late arrival WILL result in missed class time; the scheduled end time will be strictly observed regardless of start time.
b. If arriving early, please wait either outside or in the garage until your scheduled start time, as there may be a student concluding a lesson before you.
4. SCHEDULING, RESCHEDULING, AND CANCELLATION
a. It is the student’s (or student’s parent/guardian) responsibility to schedule their own lessons using the web-based scheduler available at www.littletonbassschool.com. Any day/time shown is available and may be selected. Once selected, that day/time is reserved, and cannot be booked by another student. Confirmation emails are provided, and it is the responsibility of the student/parent to keep their confirmed appointment.
b. If a student cannot attend a reserved slot for any reason, it may be rescheduled, or cancelled, using the web-based scheduler. Links are provided in your confirmation emails.
i. Lessons may be rescheduled or cancelled up to 2 hours before the booked day/time without penalty. The student/parent is responsible for rescheduling or cancelling, using the web-based scheduler.
ii. If last-minute circumstances prevent your arrival, within 2 hours of the booked appointment, you must call or text 303-476-8641 as soon as possible to communicate either delayed arrival or cancellation. There is no penalty or issue for last-minute changes, but you must call or text. Do NOT email.
iii. IMPORTANT: A no-show, without notification as outlined above, will be charged as a completed lesson.
5. HOLIDAYS AND TEACHER ILLNESS
a. The LBS monthly pre-pay schedule and rates are based on four (4) lessons per month, and so is based on a 48-week year. There may be up to 4 weeks of the year blocked out due to standard holiday observances and other planned school closures. These will be reflected on the web-based scheduler as blocked out dates.
b. Additionally, the instructor is entitled to 7 days of sick time per year. Instructor illness will be communicated to students as soon as possible, and makeup lessons arranged, if possible, or written course materials for study and practice will be provided.
c. There are no tuition refunds given under any circumstances, including instructor illness.
6. MUSICAL COMMITMENTS
a. Your instructor is occasionally a performing musician as well as your teacher. There will be rare and infrequent occasions when a commitment to a performance, recording session, or special rehearsal will need to take precedence over scheduled lessons. The available day/time schedule takes most such possibilities into consideration, but unforeseen commitments may require your lesson to be rescheduled, if possible, or replaced with written course materials for study and practice if a reschedule cannot be accommodated.
b. There are no tuition refunds given under any circumstances.
7. TERMINATION OF LESSONS
a. A la carte students/parents wishing to permanently terminate lessons are asked as a courtesy to provide 2 weeks’ notice, and complete a Withdrawal Form, which will be provided by the instructor.
b. Monthly pre-paid students/parents wishing to permanently terminate lessons must provide notification at least 2 weeks before their monthly end date and complete a Withdrawal Form. No partial refunds will be provided, whether the student/parent chooses to complete the month’s lessons or not.
c. Littleton Bass School reserves to right to terminate lessons with any student, at any time, and for any reason, including but not limited to: lack of practice, frequent absences, behavioral issues, delinquency in payment, or failure to abide by the LBS Terms & Conditions.
8. USE OF MATERIALS
a. Any photos or video taken of students during lessons may be used by Littleton Bass School for promotion through social media, the school’s website, blog, or other uses at the discretion of the school. Students or their parent(s)/guardian(s) may elect to be excluded from this usage at any time.
b. Any written, printed, or electronically transmitted materials, including music, tablature, scales, diagrams, or any such lesson materials, are the property of Littleton Bass School and are solely for the use of the student who directly receives them. No other use, copying, or sharing of the materials is permitted.
9. STUDIO ETTIQUETE
a. Students are expected to come prepared to play and learn. This means:
i. Their instrument is in good working order.
ii. Their fingernails are properly maintained for playing.
iii. Cell phones are silenced and out of sight. (Exceptions: use of a tuning app at the beginning of the lesson, or as directed by the instructor.)
iv. Any printed materials/music being worked on is brought to class.
v. No food is allowed, only water or non-alcoholic beverages in spill-proof containers.
vi. The student’s undivided attention on their instructor is expected. Any parent, family member, or friend present at the lesson is strongly encouraged to use an adjoining waiting room or area separate from the teaching space, and is asked to remain as quiet as possible for the duration of the lesson.
10. AGREEMENT
I have read and understood these Terms & Conditions, and agree to comply with all the requirements within. I understand that tuition payments are due either monthly, or at the end of each lesson, and late fees may be added to the balance as outlined. Student/Parent hereby waives, releases, discharges, and covenants not to sue organization, its owners, employees, agents, or representatives from any and all liability, claims, demands, losses or damages arising out of, or related to, parent’s or child’s participation in the lesson/event/activity/program, whether based in contract or tort, including actual, compensatory, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive or exemplary damages. If, despite the waiver, anyone makes a claim against organization, student/parent agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless organization from any and all claims, demands, losses, attorneys’ fees, costs, liabilities or damages against organization arising out of parent’s or child’s participation in lesson/event/activity/program. Parent hereby consents to and authorizes the school to capture and use video and/or audio recordings and photographic images of my child and/or my child’s musical performance or quoted statements in print, electronic, or online media, for educational and school promotional purposes only, and without any compensation to me or my child. Parent agrees to waive and release any and all claims parent may have against the school relating to the use of these recordings, images, or statements. This consent is binding upon heirs and future legal representatives.
